WARRIORS AGREE TO TERMS WITH DEFENDER RYAN DILKS ON TWO-YEAR CONTRACT

…Three-time NLL Champion and former Defensive Player of the Year bolsters Warriors’ back end

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Warriors General Manager Curt Malawsky announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defender Ryan Dilks on a two-year contract, pending NLL approval.

“We are excited to have Ryan Dilks join our organization,” said Malawsky. “Ryan is a premier shutdown defensive player in this league and possesses an elite ability to knock down balls, get in lanes and push the ball. For all his success on the field, we feel strongly that Ryan’s attributes will be in the dressing room. Along with his championship pedigree, he is an exceptional person, leader, and teammate, which is exactly what we are looking for to teach and mentor our younger players.”

Dilks, 32, appeared in 16 games with the Saskatchewan Rush last season, collecting nine points (1-8-9), four penalty minutes, and 71 loose balls. Additionally, he ranked third on the entire team in caused turnovers (23) and had the fifth-fewest turnovers himself (5).

The 6’1”, 195-pound defender has spent each of the last 10 seasons with the Rush organization, including four seasons in Edmonton (2012-2015) and six in Saskatchewan (2016-2023) following the franchise’s relocation in 2016. Prior to that, Dilks played his first NLL season with the Boston Blazers in 2011.

In 176 career regular season games, Dilks has recorded 101 points (30-71-101), 99 penalty minutes, and 713 loose balls, with nine of his 30 career goals coming shorthanded. He has often ranked among the league leaders in caused turnovers throughout his career, ranking first among all players on multiple occasions (2016 & 2020), and compiling 263 total during regular season play. His career-high 51 caused turnovers in 2016 also helped earn him NLL Defensive Player of the Year honours.

Dilks is also a three-time NLL Champion (2015, 2016, 2018) having reached the League Finals on four separate occasions. Across 25 career NLL playoff games, he has posted 14 points (5-9-14) and 102 loose balls.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario and presently residing in St. Albert, Alberta, Dilks was originally selected by the Toronto Rock in the fifth round, 50th overall in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft. He was then traded to Boston and subsequently selected by the Rush 11th overall in the 2011 Dispersal Draft.
