Warriors add Toth and Hodgson to coaching staff

The Vancouver Warriors are pleased to announce the signings of Kaleb Toth as Assistant Coach – Offense and Curtis Hodgson as Assistant Coach – Defense.

Toth, 42, was born in Calgary but now calls Ladysmith home.  Toth played 13 seasons in the National Lacrosse League, logging 186 regular season games and adding 20 more postseason contests to his playing resume. Kaleb scored 315 goals and 398 assists for 713 points in the regular season and was just as proficient in the postseason, posting 31 goals and 40 assists for 70 points. Toth is a three-time NLL champion, winning titles with Toronto in 2000 and Calgary in 2004 and 2009.

Hodgson, 38, was born and raised in Burnaby, BC, where he works today as a high school vice-principal when he is not behind the bench. Hodgson patrolled the defense for 13 seasons with the Stealth franchise in San Jose, Washington, and finally in Vancouver, playing 211 regular season games and 15 postseason matchups as well. Hodgson posted career numbers of 36 goals and 73 assists in those 226 NLL games and snapped up 756 loose balls, an average of nearly four per game. Curtis won the NLL Champions Cup in 2010 and was the first Stealth player to ever have his number retired by the organization.

Toth and Hodgson join Head Coach Chris Gill behind the bench for the upcoming season. Clayton Richardson, who was the Warriors Assistant Coach – Defense, has stepped away from the club to spend more time with his family.

“We are pleased to have these three men together for the upcoming NLL season,” comments Vancouver Warriors General Manager Dan Richardson. “Chris Gill is a real players’ coach and brings great NLL experience as a player and a coach. Kaleb Toth will run our offense.  Kaleb brings a passion and love for the sport with a never say die attitude that will be welcome.”

“Curtis Hodgson is our former captain and brings a ton of playing experience and leadership to the table,” continues Richardson. “He knows how to get the best out of our defensive system.  We look forward to all three of these coaches to contribute to our success this season.”

Dan Perreault also returns for his third season as Warriors Video Coach, while Dwight Maetche is back for his third season as the Warriors Goaltending Coach.
