Catching Up With Jordan McBride

Q: Jordan, it has been a couple of months since the Warriors season has ended.  What have you been up to?

McBRIDE: I took a small break and then jumped right back in with the New Westminster Salmonbellies (WLA).  I didn’t take much of a break as I wanted to keep my game sharp.

Q: A number of your Warriors teammates play with you in New West, and your Head Coach is Warriors assistant Rory McDade.  Can you carry over any chemistry from the Warriors to New West and then back?

McBRIDE: Definitely.  The more I can play with the same guys the better it is for the team chemistry.  We work on small plays and reading on what guys like to do.  Every advantage helps.

Q: You proved through your season last year that you belong in the NLL.  It also helped you land a multi year contract with the Warriors.  What do you need to do to keep improving?

McBRIDE: I need to continue to build on my chemistry with my teammates but also find more ways to score goals in ways I haven’t before.  Finding multiple ways to score will make me more dangerous and also open up the floor for my teammates.  I need to continue my training and my mental focus, watching live and on tape defencemen and goaltenders tendencies so that I can focus come game time.

Q: I know that between lacrosse and work (Jordan is a firefighter with the Burnaby Fire Department), that you are busy.  Are you taking any time off at all before next season?

McBRIDE:  Once the WLA season is over I will dial it back from lacrosse, but still work on my training.

Q: One last thing…a number of your teammates on the Warriors play elsewhere in the WLA.  Who loves to run the trash talk out on the floor?

MCBRIDE:  Tyler Codron and Matt Beers love to chirp on the floor.  We also all work together at BFD, so they love to go back to work and stir it up too!
