BOB MCMAHON NAMED OFFENSIVE COACH, ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER OF THE VANCOUVER WARRIORS

Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Warriors announced today that Bob McMahon has been named the Offensive Coach and Assistant General Manager for the team.

“I am very excited to announce that Bob McMahon has joined our staff,” comments Warriors GM and Head Coach Curt Malawsky. “I have been working alongside Bobby since 2011.  He is one of the best lacrosse minds in the game and has been a major influence and mentor to me throughout my career.”

“Bobby is not only excellent with the X’s and O’s,” continues Malawsky. “He is ever adapting to the new age game and all its personnel.  Bobby brings a team-first mentality, competitive nature, impeccable work ethic and Championship Pedigree.  We are very fortunate and excited that Bob has decided to join the Vancouver Warriors.  This franchise got better today.”

McMahon, from Orangeville, Ontario, joins the Warriors after having spent the past 12 seasons as the Assistant Coach of the Calgary Roughnecks.  With Calgary, McMahon helped the team to two NLL Championship appearances in 2014 and 2019, assisting Malawsky and Warriors defensive coach Rob Williams in winning the NLL title in 2019.  McMahon has been involved as either a Head Coach or assistant coach in the NLL since 2000, winning the NLL Coach of the Year award with Albany in 2002 and in total appearing in five NLL Championships as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach.

McMahon has also been a fixture in the Ontario lacrosse community for nearly his entire life, including coaching Team Ontario to 10 National Championships between 2004-2018.  In 2003, Bob was an assistant coach for Team Canada as they captured the 2003 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.  McMahon also spent the better part of a decade in Ontario Major Series Lacrosse, leading the Brampton Excelsiors to the 1998 Mann Cup as well as appearing in the Mann Cup final in 1999.  In 2000, Bob was named the MLL Coach of the Year.

The Warriors also announced that they have signed Grant Coghill as the team video coach.
