TORONTO ON – Rob Hellyer scored a sock trick, six goals in a game, to lead the Toronto Rock to a 14-7 victory over the Vancouver Warriors in NLL action on Saturday night.
Hellyer and the Rock reeled off six consecutive goals late in the second quarter through midway into the third quarter to break open a tight game. Toronto rock veteran Dan Dawson also scored twice and added two helpers for a four-point night in the win for Toronto.
Warriors forward Mitch Jones, who came into the game leading the NLL in goals and points, added to his totals, scoring two goals and adding three assists for five points. Joel McCready notched a hattrick, his third three goal or better performance of the season and dished out two assists as well for five points, while Logan Schuss and Jordan McBride added goals for Vancouver in the loss. Keegan Bal ended up with three assists on the evening.
Eric Penney took the loss for Vancouver, who fall to 4-6 on the season.
The Warriors will wrap up their season long three game road trip with a morning game in San Diego, next Saturday, February 22. Game time at the Pechanga Arena will be at 11:30 AM.
