Game Preview | Warriors at Seals

WARRIORS VISIT SEALS: This game marks the halfway mark of the schedule for the Vancouver Warriors, who will face San Diego for the second time in three weeks.  For the Seals, an oddity in the schedule has had them off since January 19th, the last time that these two clubs met.  It was a thrilling back and forth game in Vancouver, with San Diego hanging on for a 11-10 victory to move to 4-2 on the season.

Garrett Billings enjoyed a five-point night for the Seals in the win, with two goals and three assists, with Casey Jackson also bagging a hat trick.  Mitch Jones paced all players with four goals and three assists for a big sevenpoint night. Frank Scigliano earned the victory turning aside 43 shots for San Diego while Aaron Bold picked up the defeat with 40 saves on 51 shots.

MAKE NO BONES ABOUT JONES: Warriors forward Mitch Jones has surged to the top of the scoring leaderboard for the Warriors and now is T9 in NLL scoring with 37 points.  Jones lit up the San Diego Seals with four goals and three assists for a sevenpoint night in the January 19th, 11-10 setback to the Seals and had nearly had his fifth goal as the ball spun right and past the post in the dying seconds.  Jones now leads the Warriors with 14 goals and 23 assists.

PENNEY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS: Vancouver Warriors goalie Eric Penney has put forth some stellar goaltending. Penney was in a goaltenders duel last weekend with Calgarys Christian Del Bianco.  Penney faced 50 shots, turning aside 42 on the evening as the Warriors came up a little short in a 8-5 loss to the Roughnecks. The netminder also turned aside 36 shots, including many highquality chances, in the Warriors 11-10 win over Colorado on January 26th. Penney gave his team a chance versus the Saskatchewan Rush, coming in on January 12th down 4-0 after five minutes, Penney shut the door, allowing his mates to climb back into the game and tie the score 8-8 in the third quarter before the rally fell short.  Penney is now 1st in the NLL with a 10.39 GAA.

ANOTHER BIG GAME:  The Warriors continue their run of games versus their division opponents, this their 5th of 6th consecutive against the West.  Vancouver is 2-4 inside their division this season and a win tonight in San Diego would even the season series with the Seals.  San Diego and Vancouver will hook up once again for their regular season series finale on March 2nd back at the Pechanga Arena.
